Additionally, entities must follow guidelines such as the Environmental Guidelines for Industries, the Environment Management Plan, the National Forest Policy, and the Forest Conservation Act.

Historically, India has grappled with a lack of a systematic approach to identify and reward entities that exhibit exceptional dedication to nature and the environment. The absence of a recognized benchmark or standard has impeded the proper appraisal of entities for their environmental stewardship.
